FA16-Project3

For this week’s assignment we were asked to, create our introduction and compare our works to a similar research experiment. The person I found who had similar concept to my thesis question was john kihlstrom, a professor from Berkley College in California. When I read his paper on why students cram when they study, I found myself in the shoes of his participants, but not just me; I feel that most college students do the same thing. It comforted me for a moment that it wasn’t only me but really it is an issue that had to be addressed. Coming from a college student and not from a professor it is easier to explain why it is harder for us to study mainly because of these new media application which distract us and take us from studying to viewing the newest fashion in today’s society.

This week instead of playing a learning game we were asked to answer thesis questions, that will help us answer some questions about cognitive psychology. The topic i chose to use was about memory ability in students from the age of 18 – 23. I chose this age range because those are the average ages of college students and what better way to study memory than in students who are asked to remember learning material throughout every semester they are in college. Most importantly why some students remember better than others. I think it will be a good topic to conduct on my colleagues and friends.

FA16-Project week 3

This week I decided to play a game named save the park. The overall objective of the game was to pick up trash off the ground in a dirty park. the premise of the game is good , it promotes people not to liter their garbage by throwing it on the ground but rather recycle it or just throw it in a normal trash bin. Even though the game to me was a little boring I enjoy playing it because in the beginning you develop a sort of competiveness to beat your time from the last stage you played. Another good feature about this game is that it is easily accessible by phone which to me is a big deal.

FA16-Project 3

The game I played was called sidekick cycle. The first thing that popped up when I opened the game was a charity donation allowing underprivileged children receive new bikes. It was something new that I have never seen before it was refreshing to me to see a game that not only was enjoyable to play but had a giving to others type of feeling. The game itself was fun to play, each stage had a different obstacle and got harder and harder to play as the levels went up. Most of all each stage was different in regards to well you ride the bike, which created challenge which I liked.

FA16-Project3 week 1

This week i chose to play the game ” dumb ways to die”. the game was very interesting to me. The objective of the game was to avoid the cartoon character from dying in various ways. Every stage was a different scenario of sequences of ways a person can die. Their was no real educational value of the game but it was fun to play. the game is mostly a one player game. In Bartle’s Taxonomy  killers or achievers would be good for these types of games, because either you can enjoy killing the character or like to have the fastest time you can possible achieve. Overall it was a good experience for a first time game.
